It was during Russia’s privatization in the mid-90s that TAIF became a major shareholder in most of its companies. In addition to TAIF, Shaimiev serves as CEO of Tatautodor, which is appointed to construct and repair roads in Tatarstan. A passionate race car driver, Airat Shaimiev won a European competition called Autocross three times, i.e., in 2002, 2004 and 2005.
