He later returned to teach at the university. Taylor has also composed many scores for film and television. He stopped playing with Dave Matthews Band in 2008 but rejoined them for a benefit concert in September 2017. He went on to join the Robert Jospe Trio and plays in Virginia with up and coming musicians.
