If Bezos’ space tourism gamble pays off, it could end up making him even richer than he already is, with a fortune of around $80 billion that makes him the third richest person on the planet by most rankings. But even if it doesn’t, one is reminded of the line from Citizen Kane about going broke running a newspaper: “You’re right, I did lose a million dollars last year. I expect to lose a million dollars this year. I expect to lose a million dollars next year. You know, Mr. Thatcher, at the rate of a million dollars a year, I’ll have to close this place in… 60 years.”
