Smith starred as Sandy Beech in the TV series Eyes Down from 2003 to 2004. In 2005 she appeared in the series The Lenny Henry Show. She starred as Cleo Martin in the television series Love Soup from 2005 to 2008 and as Michelle in the TV series Grownups from 2006 to 2009. From 2001 to 2009 she starred in the TV series Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps. She also starred in the series Gavin & Stacey from 2008 to 2010 and Benidorm in 2009. In 2012 she starred in the TV series Mrs. Biggs. Smith has starred in the films Hysteria, The Scapegoat, and Powder Room. She won a BAFTA Award for Best Leading Actress for her role in Mrs. Biggs in 2013.
